More than 600 Division I volleyball players entered the NCAA transfer portal this winter. None signed with Texas.
That sounds quiet. For a program that went 26–4 and reached the NCAA Regional Final, quiet can also mean confidence. Jerritt Elliott kept almost everyone who mattered.
Texas lost starting middle Ayden Ames and reserve Whitney Lauenstein to the portal from its own roster. On the incoming side, the headline is who stayed: All-American outsides Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears, setter Jordyn Porter, and a core that pushed Wisconsin to the limit in Austin.
Ramsey Gary arrives from Indiana as the likely libero successor to Emma Halter. Middle is thinner — Nya Bunton, Taylor Harvey, and freshman Addy Gaido cross-training there in spring practice per Texas Athletics.
The portal window closed without a splash addition. Elliott bet on continuity. Wisconsin at Moody Center on Sept. 13 is the first real test of whether that bet holds.
