Volts Fall in Nine on Walk-Off, Drop Series at Carolina

Texas led twice in extra innings and still lost 6-5 on a walk-off in nine.

Sierra Romero homered in the third for a 3-1 lead — her first of the season. Carolina tied it in the eighth on Devyn Netz’s RBI double. The Volts went ahead again in the ninth when Jaydyn Goodwin scored on a pair of wild pitches.

It lasted two batters. Alyssa Brito singled, and Aleshia Ocasio lined a two-run single to right-center to end it.

Texas stranded 12 runners. Carolina walked 11 — tying an AUSL single-game record. Rachel Garcia went the distance in the circle. Rookie Leighann Goode doubled for her first pro hit.

The sweep sent the Volts home 1-4, finally bound for Dell Diamond.
