Rachel Garcia had Portland hitless for six innings. Then the seventh happened.

The Cascade put up five runs on three homers — an AUSL record for a seventh inning — and walked out of Dell Diamond with a 5-1 win Friday. Korbe Otis (two-run), Megan Grant (solo), and rookie Kenleigh Cahalan (two-run, first pro homer) did the damage.

Texas had been up 1-0 since the third when Jackie Lis doubled and scored on Danieca Coffey’s sac fly. Garcia struck out eight, a season high, and went 6.2 innings. Only two earned runs on her line; Tiare Jennings’ error and Garcia’s own throw extended the frame.

First time this year Texas lost while leading after six. Volts drop to 3-8.
