Sunday at Dell Diamond followed the same script as the rest of the Portland series: Texas led early, Portland won late.
Grant homered in the first for a 1-0 Portland lead — the No. 4 pick in the 2026 draft and the NCAA’s single-season home run record holder (42 at UCLA). Rylie Boone bunted for a hit, walks to Dylan Mulipola and Rachel Garcia loaded it, and Jackie Lis punched a two-run single down the line for a 2-1 Volts lead.
Lis had doubled Saturday too — her first two doubles of the AUSL season. She finished Sunday 1-for-3, two RBI.
Portland did not make an error all day. Kelly Maxwell gave up two runs in two innings; Hoover took over in the third and held Texas to Jalia Lassiter’s lone seventh-inning single.
Texas challenged a safe call at second in the third on Kenleigh Cahalan’s infield hit. Crew confirmed it. Mulipola stole second and died there.
In the fifth, Jessica Mullins’ wild pitch and error helped Portland, but Sis Bates hit into a 4-3 double play with Aliyah Binford pitching to kill the rally.
Ally Carda started for Texas — her second start since joining from Japan. Bates singled, Kendra Falby doubled, and when Mullins relieved Carda she threw two wild pitches to score both runners. Korbe Otis walked, Grant hit a two-run shot, and it was 5-2.
Grant finished 2-for-3, two homers, three RBI — the ninth AUSL player with a two-homer game and the league leader with six homers after Sunday. Carley Hoover got the win with five shutout innings in relief (one hit, five K). Carda took the loss (0-1). Binford threw 2.2 scoreless out of the pen.
Texas finished with four hits and stranded six runners. Jaydyn Goodwin was hit by a pitch in the second and went 0-for-2. Portland took the series 5-1, 6-3, and 5-2; the Volts leave the homestand 1-5 and 3-10 overall.
