Texas Softball is back-to-back national champion.
The Longhorns finished off No. 6 Texas Tech with a 4–1 win in Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series Championship Series on Thursday, June 4, at Devon Park — completing the sweep after a 7–3 opener, per Texas Athletics. Texas closed the year 53–12.
The road was not clean. Texas lost its WCWS opener, then went 6–1 in Oklahoma City and 11–2 in the NCAA Tournament overall, per Texas Athletics. ESPN noted the Longhorns won six elimination games in the postseason. Texas became the fifth program in WCWS history to drop its Oklahoma City opener and still lift the trophy, per Texas Athletics.
Teagan Kavan closed it: she entered in the sixth and retired all six batters she faced with five strikeouts for the save, per Texas Athletics. Across the 2026 WCWS she finished 4–1 with a 1.47 ERA, two saves, and 30 strikeouts in 33.1 innings — and was named Most Outstanding Player for a second straight year, the first two-time MOP in WCWS history, per Texas Athletics.
It is the program’s second NCAA title (2025 and 2026).
